AMPERS&ONE ‘Kick Start’ Their Born to Define Tour in NYC

AMPERS&ONE, the 7-member K-pop group, have kicked off their second US tour.  The sold out crowd were on hand to witness the second of seventeen stops, at the nearly 50 year old Gerald. W. Lynch Theater, located on the border of the Upper West Side and Hell’s Kitchen in New York City. ANDEAR, as their fans are affectionately called, were at the venue early, some as early as 3am, to get up close to Kamden, Brian, Jiho, Siyun, Mackiah, Kyrell and Seungmo.

At 7:03pm, AMPERS&ONE hard-launched into their 24-song set starting with their most recent single ‘GOD’ followed by ‘What You Talking About’ and ‘I’m Down’ before greeting the crowd of over 600 spanning two floors, for the first time. They kept the energy up with a crowd favorite, ‘That’s That’, in black suits, styled to suit each member. A few songs later the members took a break to talk to the crowd about their schedules and sightseeing in NYC, highlighted by a trip to Times Square, the top of the Empire State Building and the obligatory slice from Joe’s Pizza.  ANDEAR were on their feet for special unit stages at the show’s midway mark.  Kamden and Jiho teamed up to bring the self-proclaimed ‘sexiest performance of the night’ with their rendition of Enhypen’s ‘Fever’.  Their passionate performance was followed by Brian and Kyrell’s sweet and youthful take on Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’. Last but not least Siyun, Mackiah and Seungmo brought an electric vocal performance with One Direction’s hit ‘Drag Me Down’.

After the solo stages the members changed into their next group ‘fit of the night.  Taking the stage, looking like models straight off the runway, in personalized versions of grey suits. While resembling a Hugo Boss ad, the seven members moved into the most intense, choreo heavy section of their show, highlighted by ‘He+She=We’, ‘Kick Start’ and ‘Broken Heart’.  As a special surprise, the members got closer to ANDEAR by coming down from the stage and performing in the aisles of the first floor.  The nearly two hour show was action packed with laughter-inducing ‘ments,  jaw dropping choreo, impressive vocal control and bass-laced rapping.   With only one full team, off-stage break, the members took a quick moment to switch into their merch shirt before coming out for their last performance section of the night.  Their infectious energy had the crowd, from the first row to the last row upstairs, on their feet all culminating with the last song of the night, a second performance of ‘My Way’.

The ‘ments are always some of the best, most memorable events of the show, and tonight was no different.  Siyun said, with translation help from Mackiah, that ‘for the first time ever in his life’ he went out alone and went to Times Square and watched all of the people and billboards.  Followed by an entertaining display of athletic prowess with a vertical jump competition by the members.  This show marks the third time the group has performed in NYC in the last 15 months, including their first US tour in early 2025 and an opening performance on the P1Harmony arena tour last September.

AMPERS&ONE’s Born to Define US tour was an impressive display of physicality and diverse musicality.  It was a masterclass in precision and confidence.  Each member had their moment, with charisma radiating through unit stages and their candid interactions with ANDEAR.  Their non-stop, infectious energy is undeniable and their impressive stage presence has proven that they have stepped up from newcomers and are poised to own larger stages. The Born to Define tour is just getting started, but with many dates already sold out you’ll need to work hard to see AMPERS&ONE, in what could be their last tour in an intimate setting.
