From electrifying dance performances to exclusive vendor crafts and a special live set from Atlanta's very own Alan Z, KnoxPopCon proved that Knoxville's fandom scene is alive—and ready for more!

On June 7th, Knoxville made history with KnoxPopCon — the city’s very first mini convention dedicated to the passionate worlds of K-Pop and anime. This groundbreaking event created a vibrant space where fans of all ages and backgrounds could unite, celebrate their favorite genres, and embrace the joy of music, stories, and shared culture. KnoxPopCon carved out a much-needed home for East Tennessee fandoms—blending the infectious beats of K-Pop with the colorful, imaginative world of anime. Fans from across the region showed up in dazzling cosplay, browsed handcrafted treasures, and hit the stage with skillful dance moves—proving that the South knows exactly how to bring the hype.
The stage pulsed with energy thanks to K-Pop dance cover groups like Nashville’s Starstruck, TNT-K, KnoxPopGalz, and Knoxville’s very own Equiknox. Each crew brought high-impact routines that had the crowd cheering nonstop. Highlights included a vibrant rendition of NCT Dream’s “Hello Future,” a dynamic member showcase, and even live vocals—proving these dancers were also true entertainers. The vibe kept rising when KnoxPopCon organizer Asami Martin hosted a dance workshop featuring Jungkook’s “Standing Next To You.” With laughter, encouragement, and a whole lot of heart, fans stepped out of their comfort zones, cheered each other on, and took the stage together.
Of course, no K-Pop gathering is complete without a Random Dance Play, and KnoxPopCon’s mix of K-Pop, J-Pop, and anime openings had fans and dance crews alike shaking off pre-show jitters and living their best life onstage.
As the beats faded and the anime vibes took center stage, so did the cosplay competition. Finalists stunned the crowd with creations like a custom-designed Minecraft character and an intricately crafted anime-inspired look. While judges had a tough decision, the crowd’s cheers ultimately crowned the winner, Futaba Sakura with her handcrafted fit—proving once again that fandom is family.
Con culture thrives on community, and KnoxPopCon’s artist alley was packed with creativity. Vendors showcased custom pickets, K-Pop-themed stickers, handmade coasters, charms, and more—each item a one-of-a-kind piece crafted by local makers. Fans left with unique finds and a deeper appreciation for the artistry that powers their favorite fandoms.

One of the most electric moments of KnoxPopCon 2025 came when Alan Z—Atlanta’s genre-blending hip-hop and R&B powerhouse—made his Tennessee debut. Before stepping onto the KnoxPopCon stage, Alan Z sat down with K Fuse for an exclusive interview that gave fans a closer look into the mind behind the music. However, when he hit the stage with his signature mix of lyrical grit and melodic flow, Alan didn’t just perform, he connected with the audience unlike anything seen before! For many in the audience, it was their first time hearing his music live, and from the very first beat, it was clear: this wasn’t just a set—it was a moment. He rolled through fan-favorite tracks like “V for Vendetta,” "Foreigner," "Web,” and "Ride or Die,” effortlessly switching from vulnerability to full swagger. Before he performed “Libra Energy,” he turned to the crowd, “I want to know what you think my Zodiac sign is.” A bold “LIBRA!” rang out—met with Alan’s smile and a fan’s reply: “I only know because you said it earlier in one of your songs!” The crowd erupted, a testament to how tuned-in and connected the crowd felt with him. "Chill" and “Good Enough” broke the emotional barrier. As Alan sang, “Am I good enough~”, the crowd shouted back in unison: “YES YOU ARE!” It wasn’t just a call-and-response — it was a release. Alan Z’s performance was more than music—it was a shared emotional experience. And by the time he stepped offstage, one thing was certain: he didn’t just make a debut in Knoxville. He made an impact.
KnoxPopCon 2025 was more than a convention — it was a celebration of culture, creativity, and connection. From stunning performances and handmade treasures to viral dance-offs and lyrical resonance, this first-of-its-kind event brought Knoxville’s fandom community together like never before.
