82MAJOR ‘TAKEOVER’ NYC On Their Debut Tour

82MAJOR, the 6-member K-pop group, have kicked off their debut tour with a couple dozen stops in North America. A crowd of several hundred fans were on their feet early, at the historic Queens Theatre to mark the 6th stop of SEONG IL, YE CHAN, SEONG MO, SEONG BIN, SEOK JOON, and DO GYUN’s ‘<82 SYNDROME>’ tour.

Their fans, called 82DE (a combination of 82 and attitude), were at the venue early to take part in all of the pre-show benefits with the members. A soundcheck party, solo member selfies, and hi-touch are just a few of the events that can get fans up close to their favorite idols. With temperatures into the upper 80’s in NYC that day, early birds were surprised with an additional fan service, ‘Hydration King’ YE CHAN handed out water to the waiting fans to make sure everyone was taken care of in the elevated temps.

Promptly at 7:00pm, 82MAJOR took to the stage and kicked off their set with their most recent single ‘TAKEOVER’ followed by ‘Stuck’ before taking a break to greet the crowd with their first ment of the night. They kept the energy up with ‘Heroes’ and ‘Gossip’. Having started the show in a vintage denim look, it didn’t take long before the members shed their jackets and continued performing in their black rocker looks previously concealed under the denim. A few songs later the members took a break to talk to the crowd about how special this first tour was for them. The members spoke about how they wanted to do something special for the 82DE that have supported them since their debut in October 2023. They created two songs ‘Say More’ and ‘Suspicious’, released them on SoundCloud, and added them as special stages for this tour. Continuing on with crowd favorites, ‘Illegal’ and ‘Choke’ had the members sweating through their shirts, with YE CHAN commenting ‘my shirt is two different colors!’

The 90-minute performance had very little downtime. It was packed with intense choreo, steady vocals and precise rapping. With only one off-stage break, the members took a quick moment to switch into their merch shirt before coming out to end the show with ‘Promise You’, a song specifically written for 82DE. The crowd interactions during the ments were some of the highlights of the night, with the member’s individual personalities spotlighted. They talked about how it was the first time in NYC for several of the members and they were looking forward to checking out the Empire State Building, Times Square and shopping - ‘spending money they don’t have’ YE CHAN hilariously added. SEOK JOON, a self-proclaimed Marvel fan, was in awe of the city that served as the backdrop of the Spiderman franchise.

82MAJOR’s <82 SYNDROME> North American tour was an impressive display of stamina and musicality. They matched the energy of the crowd all night and have paved their own musical path. They cite influences such as Big Bang and EXO’s Baekhyun, that inspired them to want to become idols, but want to create a style that is all their own and not just follow the trends. With their impressive dancing, unique tone and songwriting skills, they are poised to take the next MAJOR (pun intended) step into mainstream K-Pop. Looking forward to seeing more marketing and promo from the members to achieve the notoriety to match their talent. You can check out 82MAJOR at any of the 17 remaining dates of their <82 SYNDROME> North American tour.
