JAY B Puts Down Roots in NYC: A Night of Charisma and Chaos with the GOT7 Leader
The cool autumn air may have moved into New York City this week, but JAY B brought the heat on the fourth stop of his ‘2026 JAY B tape: roots USA tour’. He was back at the 2,000 seat Palladium Times Square, a venue he last performed at in 2016 with GOT7. As a longtime fan, seeing JAY perform felt less like attending a concert and more like spending the evening with an artist who genuinely knows how to connect with his audience. From the moment he stepped on the stage, the fans were on their feet, itching to get closer to him. JAY B seemed to feed off of that energy and encourage the crowd to give even more throughout the night, as he delivered powerful vocals, smooth choreography and an effortless stage presence that he’s known for. His set was a mix of his tried and true solo releases, OSTs, a previously unreleased song called ‘Sweetie’ and fan-favorite GOT7 tracks.
One of the highlights of the show was his constant candid interaction with the crowd. JAY B’s sense of humor was on full display as he joked with Ahgase, the name of GOT7’s fandom meaning ‘baby bird’ in Korean. At several points in the show especially enthusiastic fans shouted from the audience, leading to a hilarious back-and-forths that made the entire crowd laugh. Some of these successful fan exchanges led to them walking away with towels and one even with the shirt off JAY B’s back. These unscripted moments reminded everyone just how naturally entertaining he is. We even had our own TMI time when, at the start of this second stage, JAY B informed us that while getting changed backstage during the VCR he changed his shirt only to look in the mirror to find that the back of the shirt had completely ripped and was unwearable.
Musically, JAY B was in top form. His vocals remained strong throughout the set, balancing emotional ballads with high-energy tracks that captivated the audience. Every song seemed to bring a different side of his artistry to the stage, showcasing his confidence as a solo performer and his deep connection with his fans.
Just when everyone thought the night was wrapping up, JAY B took the stage for his encore, a trio of GOT7 songs, but he wasn’t on stage for long. He hopped down into the crowd and weaved from the front all the way to the last row in the back. The entire room erupted with excitement, with everyone scrambling to catch a glimpse of him up close. It was the perfect embodiment of the night’s unofficial theme: breaking down the barrier between artist and fans.
By the end of the night, it was clear that JAY B had given us more than just a performance. Additional to music, he had created an experience filled with laughs, surprises and genuine connection. Between the funny interactions, TMI shirt ripping incident and the exhilarating crowd run that launched his encore, his NYC stop proved exactly why fans continue to show up for him after 14 years. It was a night that felt personal, exciting and unforgettable. While it’s bittersweet that his USA tour is coming to an end, this night in NYC left me even more excited for what’s ahead.
