SOTA HANAMURA Turns a Bowl of Ramen Into a Love Song with “キミヲサガシテタ Searching for You”
SOTA HANAMURA has found an unexpected subject for his latest solo release: ramen. Released September 18, “キミヲサガシテタ Searching for You” serves as the new TV commercial song for Osaka-born ramen chain Dotonbori Kamukura, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, while giving SOTA another opportunity to explore the urban pop sound developing around his solo work.

Best known as the main vocalist of Da-iCE, SOTA began building his solo career in 2026 with the digital pre-release “Me.exe” in February, followed by his solo live debut at the 42nd Mynavi Tokyo Girls Collection 2026 Spring/Summer in March. His pre-debut album ASCEEENSION arrived in June before his first solo tour and Special Edition Budokan performance on August 17. Outside of Da-iCE's five-member dance and vocal format, SOTA has been given more space to shape the atmosphere around his voice, and his work with producer A.G.O has become an important part of that direction. The two first worked together on “イエナイ” from ASCEEENSION, followed by “Dejavu” and now “キミヲサガシテタ Searching for You,” creating a growing musical partnership alongside SOTA's transition into solo work.
The title immediately gives the song its central idea. “キミヲサガシテタ,” meaning “Searching for You,” sounds like it belongs to a love song, and SOTA plays with that expectation without needing to make the concept overly complicated. The “you” is ultimately connected to Dotonbori Kamukura and the familiarity of its ramen, turning the search for a favorite meal into something that carries the language of affection. It is an amusing premise, but the song works because the feeling underneath it is recognizable: people do not always return to a favorite restaurant simply because they are hungry. Certain foods become connected to memories, routines, places, and the feeling of knowing exactly what you are going to get when you walk through the door.
That warmth comes through against a production that is noticeably cooler and more polished. “キミヲサガシテタ Searching for You” leans into an urban pop sound with a sleek quality that suits SOTA's solo material, while the subject keeps the track from becoming too detached. His voice has room to sit inside the production rather than having to fight for attention, allowing the song to feel relaxed even as the concept itself carries a little playful exaggeration. It is a different kind of love song, but it still understands the basic appeal of the genre: finding something that makes you want to come back.
A.G.O's involvement gives the track another point of continuity within SOTA's solo catalog. The producer has worked with artists including Ayumu Imazu, Furui Riho, SIRUP, and King & Prince, and his polished approach fits the contemporary urban sound SOTA has been developing since ASCEEENSION. More importantly, their third consecutive collaboration suggests that the two are beginning to establish a musical language together. “イエナイ,” “Dejavu,” and “キミヲサガシテタ Searching for You” may approach different subjects, but there is a consistency in the way A.G.O's production creates space for SOTA's vocals to carry the emotional center of each track.
The connection to Dotonbori Kamukura also goes beyond simply providing a song for a commercial. SOTA stars in the accompanying television campaign, putting the artist directly into the world that inspired the release rather than leaving the partnership at the level of a soundtrack. The song's premise becomes more effective because the commercial gives it a physical setting, connecting the polished studio production to the restaurant itself and the everyday experience the track is built around.

“キミヲサガシテタ Searching for You” is scheduled to play as background music inside Dotonbori Kamukura restaurants across Japan, meaning the song will eventually be heard in the same spaces associated with its subject. There is a nice circularity to that arrangement: a song written around the familiarity of returning to Kamukura becomes part of the atmosphere customers experience when they actually sit down for the ramen. Dotonbori Kamukura is looking back on 40 years of its history, one that is built around something familiar that has remained part of people's routines for decades “キミヲサガシテタ Searching for You” sits comfortably between two ideas of using something familiar as the starting point for something new.
The song borrows the language of longing and applies it to one of the simplest forms of comfort: knowing exactly what you have been craving and where to find it. That gives the track enough personality to work as a commercial song while still feeling connected to the direction SOTA has been establishing through his solo releases.
