  • Hippoplaya Seoul 2025: A Thunderous Indoor Celebration of Music, Art, and Unforgettable Vibes

We were beyond grateful to be invited to our very first festival coverage in Seoul, thanks to Gig Pro Life and the Hippoplaya team — and what an absolutely wild ride it was! From the moment we stepped into KINTEX, the venue buzzed with color, energy, and the kind of electric anticipation you only get when something legendary is about to happen. This year marked a major shift for the festival — it was the first time held indoors, and honestly? A genius move. With May being stormy and cold in Korea, the comfort of an indoor setup was a total win. Clean restrooms, clearly labeled food stalls (yes, with multiple options!), and even sponsored booths like The Venti offering lattes and slushies during the ongoing shows — it was thoughtful, smooth, and made for a seamless experience. Two Stages. One Wild Day. The setup featured two simultaneous stages -- One with modern R&B-centered performances, bringing in soulful powerhouses like Zion.T, Dean, and more. The other, a hip-hop lover’s dream, showcasing an explosive lineup led by CHANGMO and the newly formed label KC and Friends, the brainchild of SIKK. This crew included up-and-coming JMIN, the already-iconic HAON, and others, and their energy was absolutely unmatched. The crowd went INSANE for KC and Friends. No exaggeration. People were pulling off full-blown hip-hop dance moves before the set even began. It was pure hype. Premium Vibes, Perfect Timing As Premium GA ticket holders, we got to enjoy some pretty sweet perks such as a VIP-only T-shirt as memorabilia (seriously cool), a drinks stall right inside our standing zone — no need to leave the stage to grab a drink, and even extra lounge space in the back if you just wanted to chill and soak in the sounds. Despite the festival being super long, it flew by. Sets were on time, transitions were smooth, and there was always space in the schedule to grab food, check out display cases of merch, or take part in the spray-paint graffiti wall. That Surprise Guest Tho?! Okay, let’s talk about the secret guest. Rumors were flying ever since an April Fools’ teaser hinted it might be Playboi Carti — but honestly, what we got was even better. The surprise appearance by DPR Dabin shook the crowd to its core. He dropped an incredible DJ set, previewed unreleased tracks, and left everyone speechless. There were moments of pure emotion — artists like Tabber really hit us in the feels, while ZICO had the entire venue jumping. And the finale? KC and Friends absolutely lit the place on fire, complete with a giant cat on stage and crazy visual effects that took the whole experience to another level. The screen visuals were massive, with drone cameras swooping around the artists during live sets — a super clever way to avoid obstructing views with bulky camera crews. And for everyone still buzzing from the festival? The official Hippoplaya playlist on Spotify lets you relive the magic. We definitely found ourselves Shazaming songs non-stop and dancing like there was no tomorrow — even when we didn’t know the lyrics. From the insanely hyped crowd to the flawless shuttle system, organized food ordering, and affordable lockers — Hippoplaya 2025 was everything a music lover could hope for and more. We’re already counting down the days to see what this incredible team has planned for next year’s breathtaking edition. Let us know if you are just as excited as us in the comments below for Hippoplaya 2026!

  • Euphoria in Corpus Christi: How a Stormy Day Turned Into a K-pop Celebration of Culture, Community, and Creative Power

On a gray and incredibly windy Saturday in Corpus Christi, Euphoria: K-pop Exhibition  lit up the Emerald Beach Hotel with a vibrant display of culture, creativity, and community. Hosted by KPVibes Entertainment, the inaugural event proved that even the gloomiest weather couldn’t dim the energy of K-pop fans, local artists, performers, and small businesses who came together for a day packed with music, dance, and cultural exchange. Photo Credit: Lorenzo Nestled on the edge of Corpus Christi Bay, the Emerald Beach Hotel served as a scenic venue for the festivities. The convention floor buzzed with excitement as vendors and artists from across the city—and students from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi—lined up with booths showcasing photocards, handmade plushies, custom stickers, and a variety of K-pop-themed merchandise. The day kicked off with not one, but two random dance play sessions. While it took a few songs for attendees to warm up, it wasn’t long before people jumped in and out of the dance floor enthusiastically as K-pop hits shuffled through the speakers. A standout moment came when event host and performer KXTANA joined in the dance circle, drawing loud cheers and energizing the crowd. As the afternoon progressed, the entertainment continued with cultural performances. The Corpus Christi Taiko Club brought a powerful, rhythmic display of traditional Japanese drumming, followed by Perfect Blue, a K-pop cover group based in Corpus Christi, who delivered a dynamic performance of “ BOOMBAYAH ” by Blackpink. In between performances, attendees mingled freely throughout the venue, bonding over shared fandoms, trading merch, and supporting local creatives. Photo Credit: Lorenzo We also caught up with Ted Park, a Korean-American artist known for his bold creativity and emotionally honest sound. From his early beginnings in Wisconsin to his explosive performances and recent lifestyle changes, Ted shares the highs and lows of being an independent artist, the creative process behind his music, and how he’s striving to live a more grounded life in an exclusive interview with K Fuse. -- As the evening approached, anticipation grew for the main event, and the headlining concert did not disappoint. Performers Lu-Cid, Alan Z, and Ted Park each brought their unique flavor to the stage, lighting up the room with unforgettable performances. Photo Credit: Lorenzo Lu-Cid opened the show with raw charisma and boundless energy. Despite wearing a medical boot, he leapt into the crowd, created an impromptu dance circle, and set the tone for the rest of the night. His eccentric choreography and fearless stage presence immediately drew the audience in. Alan Z followed with a versatile set that showcased his vocal range and lyrical depth. From smooth pop ballads to boom-bap rap flows, his performance offered something for everyone, and his comfort on stage made for an engaging experience. Ted Park closed the show with unmatched energy and charisma. His playful attitude and constant crowd engagement elevated the experience from performance to party. A standout moment was his rendition of “Slide,”  during which the entire crowd shouted the lyrics in unison, creating a euphoric, communal moment that captured the spirit of the entire event. Adding to the surprise and delight, the audience was treated to unannounced performances from @whoisastn and KXTANA, with the latter debuting a high-octane unreleased single exclusively for those in attendance. Photo Credit: Lorenzo As the night wound down and fans snapped final selfies with the artists, one thing was clear: Euphoria  was a success. Despite its modest size, the event packed a major punch, bringing together performers, passionate fans, and a sense of belonging that made the entire experience wonderful. For the K-pop community in Corpus Christi, Euphoria  wasn’t just a fun day—it was a milestone. It reflected the passion of local fans, the dedication of cultural organizers, and the rising momentum of Asian representation in South Texas.

  • Meet The Artist: Ted Park on Going Crazy, Staying Real, and Building Without a Label

Photo Credit: Lorenzo Welcome back #SoundLovers🎶! We are excited to bring you the next artist. From Madison, Wisconsin, to stages across the globe, Ted Park is blazing his own trail as a fiercely independent Korean-American artist. Known for his raw lyricism, high-energy performances, and unfiltered honesty, Ted has built a career on passion, perseverance, and personality. In this exclusive interview, he opens up about his creative journey, life lessons, and the drive behind his ever-evolving sound. Whether he’s cooking up a track or a home-cooked meal, one thing’s clear—Ted Park is all in. Disclaimer: Responses have been edited for clarity. Q: For those who may be discovering you for the first time, could you introduce yourself? Ted Park : My name is Ted Park. I’m originally from Madison, Wisconsin. I’m Korean-American. I’m a music artist, writer, and now a video director. I just try to be overall creative and put out art that resonates with me—and hopefully with other people, too. Q: What three words best encapsulate your artistic identity? Ted : Personable, honest, and crazy. We’re going crazy—three words: we going crazy. For real! Photo Credit: Lorenzo Q: Give us a rundown of how you started in music. Where did your inspiration come from? Ted : I moved to Korea in seventh or eighth grade unexpectedly. I was in my angry kid phase—didn’t want to be there. I grew up in Wisconsin, where there wasn’t a strong Asian-American identity for me. I wanted to fit in with my friends, but being in Korea, I started writing because I was mad. Then I began recording and rapping. It became my vent for frustration, and it got me through my childhood. Eventually, I thought, “I’m already doing this every day—I’m just gonna pursue it.” Q: In an alternate universe, if you weren’t doing music, what path would you take? Ted : I’d be a chef! I love cooking. I did a collab with someone called   S.Dot  in Chicago, shout out   S.Dot . Someone commented that   S.Dot  just did a collab with a Chinese restaurant chef. It was supposed to be a sort of flaming hateful comment, but I thought to myself, If I was good enough to cook at a Chinese restaurant, that would mean that I’ve made it. But I love cooking, I also recently got into video editing and producing, so I’d still be doing something creative. Q: As an independent artist, what are the biggest struggles and highlights? Ted : The list of struggles is longer than the highlights. You’re not on salary. You don’t have a machine pushing you. You have to invest in yourself, book your own shows, do your own promos, learn the business, shoot videos, and mix and master your songs. You gotta do everything. But if you’re willing to do it, you’re not competing with anyone. You control your own wins and mistakes. Being independent taught me to be grateful. For a long time, I wasn’t happy—even when things were going well. Now I realize how much I’ve built on my own. That mindset shift has been huge. Photo Credit: Lorenzo Q: You mentioned wanting to help other independent artists—can you elaborate? Ted : Yeah, I want to start an imprint and bring up independent artists under my wing. Everyone wants to build an empire, but you need to build a community first. That’s what I’m focused on now—being part of something bigger. Q: What keeps you from signing with a major label? Ted : I’m too ADHD to let someone else control my career. Even reputable companies have approached me, but I’m impulsive. When I want to drop something, I want to do it on my terms. I’ve tried giving up control before, and it just doesn’t work for me. Q: Walk us through your creative process when making a new song. Ted : Honestly, I’m messing around. In a four-hour session, two and a half hours is me clowning, talking nonsense. Then I hear a beat I like, lock in, and freestyle everything—melody and words. I don’t write. If something sticks, it’s meant to be. I treat it like throwing paint on a canvas—either it’s a Picasso or it’s trash, but you gotta try. Q: Are recent releases from the infamous “vault,” or are they newer recordings? Ted : The vault is deep! But I’ve changed my approach—if I like something, I’m just going to put it out. Before, I’d hold on to songs and pile up new ones. Now, I’m trying to be strategic but not scared. My most recent stuff is fresh, though “Slide” was in the vault for a year before it dropped. Photo Credit: Lorenzo Q: Your Minneapolis show sold out. How did that feel, especially after your earlier experience there? Ted : It was wild. The first time I performed there in 2021, I sold 40 tickets. No shame—they had a great time, and I did too. But it made me hesitant to come back. This time? It was packed. People told me they’d waited years to see me. Going from 40 to 600—it was a beautiful full-circle moment. Q: Have your pre-show rituals changed since we last spoke in 2022? Ted : Definitely. I sleep better now, eat before shows, drink less. I used to blackout on stage. Now, I’m working on my vocals and crowd control while sober. I want to be a better performer and give people something they won’t get anywhere else. Q: “ Slide ” has been getting a lot of attention. What was the creative process behind it? Ted : That came together fast. I linked up with Italian producer Fudasca in L.A. at Sony. It was his last day in the States, and we recorded “Slide” in like 20 minutes. The Brazilian chant sample came from TikTok. We recorded five songs that day, but “Slide” hit immediately. It went viral in Italy before we even released it. Took months, but it dropped at the right time. Photo Credit: Lorenzo Q: You’ve recently adopted a healthier lifestyle. What motivated that, and what’s been the biggest challenge? Ted : It was fear, realizing my lifestyle wasn’t sustainable. I wanted to live longer and keep making good music. If I love my fans and my art, I had to change. Having the right people around helped a lot. Now, I wake up clear-headed, I’m more productive, and I feel good. It’s not just about how I look—it’s how I feel. I want to get into the industry side of music too, and that means living like it. Q: Are you planning a tour soon? Ted : I’m spontaneous, but yeah, about four or five days ago I started thinking about a summer tour. So, TBD—but likely. Q: What kind of music or artists do you enjoy live? Ted : I like random stuff. We saw a cover band the other day here in Corpus Christi, and it was lit. I’m always down for discovering new music through YouTube, Spotify, or just live experiences. Lately, I’ve been into alternative R&B, and that’s influencing my sound now. Q: Outside of music, what activities do you enjoy? Ted : Fishing, cooking, and just talking trash with my friends. I love being outside, getting fresh air. You can’t just be cooped up in the studio all the time. Photo Credit: Lorenzo Ted Park’s story is a testament to the power of staying true to yourself—even when the path gets messy. With his raw honesty, infectious energy, and ever-evolving creativity, he continues to carve out space for independent voices in music. Whether he’s cooking up tracks in the studio or supporting the next generation of artists, Ted is proof that success isn’t about fitting into the mold—it’s about breaking it. And if his journey so far is any indication, he's just getting started.

  • MONSTA X: A Decade of Power, A New Era Begins with NOW PROJECT vol.1

MONSTA X is more than just a K-pop group; they’re a force. Debuting under Starship Entertainment on May 14, 2015, with the track “ Trespass ,” the six-member group quickly carved their name into the K-pop scene. With a sound that blends hard-hitting rap, infectious vocals, and intense stage presence, MONSTA X stands out as one of the industry’s most dynamic groups. The members—Shownu, Wonho, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Jooheon, and I.M—have become icons in their own right, known for their versatility, boundary-pushing concepts, and global reach. Their fanbase, known as “Monbebe,” has grown alongside them, creating a massive international following. Now, 10 years later -- and the departure of Wonho following false accusations, MONSTA X continues as a six-member group to effortlessly push limits, redefine their sound, and prove that their story is far from over. MONSTA X is celebrating 10 years of dominance, and with the drop of NOW PROJECT vol.1 , they’re not just marking a decade—they’re declaring a new era . This isn’t your typical anniversary release. NOW PROJECT vol.1  is a seismic shift, a bold move that defines who MONSTA X is in this exact moment, while signaling that they’re not just looking back at the past, but rewriting  it. It’s an album that doesn’t just revisit past hits—it reintroduces them, reimagines them, and restores the complete  MONSTA X sound. Unlike any of their previous compilations or retrospectives, NOW PROJECT vol.1  is about the now . The title says it all: NOW . It’s not a look back—it’s a look at where they are right now , as six members, together again, united and stronger than ever. And the wordplay? It’s genius. When you flip “NOW,” you get “MON,” a direct nod to the group's very name, symbolizing their identity, their legacy, and their unbreakable bond. This release is MONSTA X in its truest form , and it's making sure that fans, old and new, feel the weight of what this means. What makes NOW PROJECT vol.1  so groundbreaking is the way it reinterprets the group’s sound. For the first time, 10 standout tracks from 2021 through 2023— songs like “ Rush Hour ,” “ LOVE ,” “ Beautiful Liar ,” “ IT’S ALRIGHT ,” “ DENY ,”  and “ LOVE FOREVER ” —have been re-recorded  by the full group. During the initial releases, some members were absent, serving their mandatory military duties, leaving a gap in the perfect synergy that MONSTA X is known for. Now, with all six members in the studio together, every note  on this album pulses with their complete, undivided energy. This is MONSTA X, as it was always meant to be. The songs themselves offer more than just catchy beats—they're a reflection of where the group has been, but also a snapshot of where they’re heading. From the explosive energy of tracks like “ Rush Hour ” to the vulnerable emotional depth of “ IT’S ALRIGHT ,” every song feels like a statement. NOW PROJECT vol.1  is about showing the world that MONSTA X is not stuck in the past, but instead is using their legacy as a springboard to something even more electrifying. ut it’s not just about the music. NOW PROJECT vol.1  is a cultural moment . It’s a declaration that MONSTA X isn’t just a K-pop group—they are an international force, redefining what it means to be global artists. They’ve never been ones to shy away from challenges or from pushing their boundaries, and this project is no different. It’s a testament to their growth, their adaptability, and their deep connection with their fans, Monbebe, who’ve been with them every step of the way. And, perhaps most importantly, this project represents the future  of MONSTA X. It’s the culmination of everything they’ve accomplished, but it’s also a declaration of intent. Their story isn’t over. It’s just beginning. NOW PROJECT vol.1  is only the first chapter in what’s sure to be a new, electrifying phase for MONSTA X.

  • xikers Wraps Their U.S. Tour with an Explosive and Emotional Finale in Los Angeles

On May 17, I witnessed one of the most extraordinary performances of the year. Ten-member boy group xikers , under KQ Entertainment, brought their second world tour, Road to XY, an unforgettable close at The Novo in Los Angeles. The energy was electric, and the emotions were raw—from start to finish. Photo Credit: Deborah R. The night opened with a VCR that introduced each member: Minjae, Junmin, Sumin, Jinsik, Hyunwoo, Junghoon, Seeun, Hunter, Yujun, and Yechan. This year’s tour felt extra special because Junghoon was finally able to join after missing the first tour due to health concerns. A packed venue full of Roady became the perfect welcome-back party for him—and a touching reunion with the rest of the group. If I had to describe xikers ’ music in one word, it would be “powerful”—in every sense. And what better way to prove that than opening the show with “ XIKEY ” and “ Red Sun ”—two of their most energetic tracks that perfectly capture their bold, colorful identity. The crowd roared in excitement, chanting and singing along in perfect sync with the boys. It was genuinely thrilling to watch the members perform with such intense energy and synchronization. They nailed their vocals and rap verses while executing complex formations—showcasing just how well-rounded and versatile they are as a group. After “ Oh My Gosh ,” xikers paused to greet L.A. Roady. The members shared how meaningful it was to return, with Hunter even admitting he was close to tears. The love pouring from the crowd was absolutely deafening—and clearly heartfelt. Next came a surprise: the first-ever L.A. performance of “ Back Off .” It was teased by Minjae, who cheekily asked if anyone had peeked at the setlist online. With props like school desks and a baseball bat being passed around during the song, the dramatic staging really set the tone for the next segment. Then, it was time for the rapline—Minjae, Sumin, and Yechan—to throw it back with “ Canvas ,” a pre-debut track from their KQ FELLAZ 2 days. Backed by heavy trap beats and high energy, the trio hyped up the crowd. The momentum continued with group performances of “ KOONG ” and “ WITCH .” Fans were especially excited to see “ KOONG ” back on the setlist and to finally experience “ WITCH ” live. Without missing a beat—or a step—xikers had the entire venue literally shaking from the energy. Following “ Doorbell Ringing ,” the vocal unit (Jinsik, Hyunwoo, Junghoon, and Seeun) took the spotlight for a stunning rendition of Justin Bieber’s “ Holy .” Next up, Hunter, Yujun, and Junmin hit the stage with a charismatic dance cover of “ Ring-A-Ling ” by Tkay Maidza. These unit stages really highlighted each member’s individuality and charm—traits that can sometimes get lost during full-group performances. Afterward, the boys checked in with the crowd to share behind-the-scenes stories of how they prepared for these stages. The genuine thought they put into curating a perfect night for Roady was evident. Then came one of the most visually stunning moments: xikers emerged in sleek black blazers bedazzled with “ xikers ” across the front—catching the light in all the right ways. They launched into “ Every Flavor Jelly ,” “ You Hide We Seek ,” and “ ROCKSTAR ” before exploding into the high-octane “ DO or DIE .” Fans jumped so hard, the floor literally shook—it was pure adrenaline. The intensity only continued with “ We Don’t Stop ” and the group’s iconic debut track “ TRICKY HOUSE , " and yes, the crowd shouted “ Shanty, shanty, yah, yah, yah! ” at the top of their lungs while the members flawlessly executed the famous rolling dance move that never fails to wow. But the night wasn’t over just yet. For the encore, xikers treated fans to “ Break A Leg ,” “ Sunny Side ,” and the unreleased “ Moonwalk ,” a song produced by leader Minjae. As the final notes played, the members held up a banner reading: “Thank you for joining xikers on this long journey.” During their final ments, emotions ran high. Jinsik was moved to tears, Yujun expressed how happy he was to tour again with all ten members, and Hunter said he was ending the tour with no regrets. Minjae gave heartfelt thanks to Roady, the tour staff, production team, and even KQ’s CEO, promising bigger stages and hinting at a new upcoming album. To commemorate the night, xikers filmed the “ XIKEY ” challenge for a TikTok with the crowd and snapped a group photo before launching into the most anticipated song of the night—their latest title track, “ BREATHE .” Most groups perform their comeback songs near the start, but leaving it for the end built suspense in a way that completely paid off. The crowd was deafening—singing and chanting like their lives depended on it. This moment sent chills down your spine! I flew from Texas to witness the finale of this U.S. leg in L.A.—and let me tell you, it was more than worth it. I witnessed their first tour in 2023, and watching them grow has been nothing short of inspiring. Their journey has come full circle, and their path ahead is only getting brighter.

  • tripleS – “Are You Alive”: A Collective Awakening in the ASSEMBLE25 Era

Each spring, like clockwork or ritual, tripleS  breaks their silence—not with noise, but with meaning . ASSEMBLE is more than a project name. It’s a gathering of intent, a convergence of 24 voices poised to refract and reflect what it means to be young and searching in 2025. Last year, “ Girls Never Die ” felt like a love letter to survival—raw, resistant, quietly defiant. It was an anthem for those holding on. This year,  asks a question that’s at once intimate and cosmic: “ Are You Alive? ” This isn't just about breath or heartbeat. It’s about awareness , connection , and the fragile thread between isolation and unity. “ Are You Alive ” unfolds as an alternative dance track—rhythmic, yet restless. The production doesn’t offer comfort. It pulses, it trembles. It breathes in sync with you and then against you. It’s as if the song itself is asking the question, over and over, until you're no longer sure if you're answering it or becoming it. Each member’s voice is a distinct color on a grayscale landscape. Together, they sketch out a world that is dim but not without light. This is the magic of tripleS : the group doesn’t just sing to  you; they echo with  you. There’s weight in their collective, and “ Are You Alive ” knows how to carry it. Where “ Girls Never Die ” was quiet resistance, “ Are You Alive ” is audible reckoning. The music video extends the visual universe—less post-apocalyptic, more emotionally post-everything. There’s friendship like a lifeline, but also distance. There are stares that don’t quite meet. Rooms that feel like holding cells for emotions that can’t find words. But it’s not bleak. It’s searching. There’s motion. There’s movement. There’s a door left open. If was about enduring, then is about emergence. Not triumphant, not polished, but real. “ You are not alone in your doubt ,” the song seems to whisper. “ You are not broken for feeling numb. But you do have to wake up .” There’s something sacred in how tripleS   handles despair—not as a plot twist, but as a shared terrain. “Are You Alive” doesn’t offer solutions. It offers a mirror and a hand. It’s a recognition that the path back to yourself might be collective. And isn’t that what Assemble has always been about? “ Are You Alive ” isn’t just a title track. It’s a call to presence in a world that often demands your absence. It’s a song for those who are tired, who are wired, who are wondering. It’s for the in-betweeners—the almost-theres and not-quite-yets. And in true tripleS   form, it doesn’t scream its thesis. It pulses it. So. " Are you alive?" Maybe not yet. But with this track—you just might remember how to begin.

  • New Music Review — Maya Kuriel’s “Alibi” Is a Fever Dream of Love, Loyalty, and Late-Night Getaways

There are songs that you hear and there are songs that happen  to you. Maya Kuriel’s latest single, “ Alibi ,” falls squarely in the latter category — a fever dream of devotion wrapped in noir-tinged synths and raw-heart vocals. Dropped today as her second release of 2025, “ Alibi ” isn’t just a song; it’s a cinematic escape route for anyone who's ever chosen chaos over comfort, love over logic. Maya’s been steadily building her own storm system on the edge of pop since her 2020 debut, and “ Alibi ” feels like the lightning strike. Produced by longtime collaborator Gavin Hudner and co-written with Julia Joy Thompson and Peyton Incollingo, the track is a moody, atmospheric dive into forbidden devotion. Think: modern Bonnie & Clyde but filtered through Maya’s grayscale lens — all blurred city lights, half-packed suitcases, and pulse-pounding promises whispered in the dark. The sonic world here is rich and tactile. Maya leans into her signature eerie-synth-meets-grunge production, but pushes deeper. The verses creep like fog, the chorus breaks like a wave, and her vocals? Equal parts whispered threat and battle cry. There's grit beneath the velvet, and it cuts just right. “ Alibi ” follows the emotional wreckage of January’s “ Dead Weight ,” where Maya peeled back the layers of toxicity and the heavy cost of staying. But where “ Dead Weight ” lingered in sorrow, “ Alibi ” runs — full speed, no rearview mirror. It's reckless, romantic, and steeped in the kind of danger that feels a little too good. Born in Seattle and now based in L.A., Maya Kuriel isn’t just rewriting the rules of pop — she’s tearing up the map entirely. As a first-gen Korean American artist, she’s creating space where space never existed. Her music doesn't just resonate; it haunts . There’s a cinematic urgency to everything she releases, and “ Alibi ” is no exception. With over 2.5 million streams already under her belt and a cult-like fanbase growing by the minute, it’s clear: Maya isn’t rising. She’s arriving. So if you’re looking for something safe and sweet, keep scrolling. But if you want a song that wraps its hands around your ribcage and doesn’t let go — “ Alibi ” is your new obsession. ▶ Stream “ Alibi ” now on all platforms. • The Rise of K-Pop Dance in Europe: Etna Comics Ready to Host 2025 Dance Fight Fest Finals May 30 - June 2

Dancing out of passion, competing out of ambition — this vibrant spirit encapsulates the essence that drives K-Pop dancers across Europe and inspired Comicon's European K-Pop Dance Fight Fest . These dedicated performers often begin their journeys in the privacy of their own bedrooms, imitating the intricate choreography of their beloved Korean idols while playing games like Just Dance. What starts as a solitary experience evolves into a communal expression as they gather in parking lots and town squares, speakers in hand, reminiscent of the break-dancers who transformed urban spaces three decades ago. With an unwavering commitment, they memorize song lyrics in a language that may be foreign to them, yet they are united by a profound love for music, performance, and the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a vibrant community. Over the past 15 years, the landscape for these dancers has transformed significantly. What began as casual meetups among friends has blossomed into the spotlight of structured competitions known as K-Pop contests . Often hosted within the lively atmospheres of comic conventions and pop culture festivals, these contests initially served as a platform to strengthen community bonds and provide dancers with a cherished moment on stage to showcase their talents. Today, however, they have evolved into major events that play a pivotal role in youth culture, drawing in crowds and fostering a sense of excitement and camaraderie among participants and spectators alike. From this evolution emerged the prestigious Italian K-Pop Dance Championship, a nationwide competition that features regional qualifiers held across Italy. The championship culminates in grand crew finals in Naples, a city known for its rich history and culture, while the soloist finals take place in the picturesque city of Bergamo. This esteemed event is organized by COMICON, in collaboration with the K-ble Jungle collective, and is supported by a robust network of local dance associations and schools, all working together to promote and elevate the K-Pop dance scene in Italy. In a landmark development in 2024, the championship took a monumental leap forward by expanding its scope to become a European competition. This new format involves some of the continent’s most dynamic and active K-Pop scenes, with regional and national selections leading to the highly anticipated European finals held in Catania. Once again, the event is organized by COMICON and K-ble Jungle, and it is proudly hosted by Etna Comics, which is recognized as Sicily’s largest pop culture festival. The finals are overseen by an international jury composed of industry experts, ensuring that the event maintains a high level of professionalism that these talented dancers truly deserve, alongside the charismatic MC DJ Shiru who adds flair to the proceedings. The four-day celebration in Catania promises to be more than just a competition; it is an immersive cultural experience. The event features local Sicilian qualifiers for the upcoming year’s Italian championship, alongside a vibrant program filled with engaging talks, hands-on workshops, spontaneous dance sessions, electrifying K-Pop concerts, and lively night parties. All activities are designed to celebrate the rich tapestry of Asian pop culture, with a particular focus on the infectious rhythms of Korean and Japanese music. The participating countries in 2025 include Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, France, Austria, Italy, Slovakia, and Latvia, with additional nations expressing interest in joining the festivities in 2026, further enriching the cultural exchange and diversity of the event. This is more than just a competition; it represents a pan-European cultural movement, fueled by passion, creativity, and a deep sense of connection among dancers and fans alike. Italy stands at the forefront of this exciting evolution, leading the charge in bringing together diverse cultures through the universal language of dance and music, creating a vibrant tapestry that celebrates the essence of K-Pop and its ability to unite people across borders. Join COMICON at Etna Comics for the European Dance Fight Fest finals May 30 - June 2!

  • 8TURN Takes the "World" by Storm -- Making Their U.S. Debut!

A chilly April 11th at Atlanta’s Buckhead Theatre, gets a sudden blast of heat as the red and white lights strobe and pan to the sounds of ‘ WORLD ’ – bringing 8TURN to the stage. 8TURN debuted only 2 years ago and embark on their first world tour named for their debut album ‘8TURNRISE.’ Fans, known as TURNING, attend the show anticipating a great setlist and the show is proven to be so much more.  The eight-member boy group consisting of Jaeyun, Myungho, Minho, Yoonsung, Haemin, Kyungmin, Yungyu, and Seungheon, kept the party alive as they opened the show with ‘ RU-PUM PUM ’ and ‘ WALK IT OUT .’ It is clear, the moment they stepped on stage, regardless of any nerves they may be feeling– this group exudes confidence and fun. The members, taking a breather, each chose questions from the fans. TURNING were able to learn things as simple as whether the members preferred light or dark mode on their phones to little moments that were more meaningful like spreading Happy Birthday wishes, favorite snacks and songs. It wasn’t just 8TURN answering, they also wanted to hear from TURNING. Of course, in true Atlanta fashion, Waffle House and the Georgia Aquarium were recommendations for the members to visit while in town. Unit performances can be some of the most highly anticipated moments of a K-Pop show; It is a time for only a handful of the members to highlight their talent. It can also be one of the more nerve-wracking parts for the members themselves. 8TURN mentioned how preparing a performance without all 8 team members can be intimidating, but anyone in the crowd would never know if there was any difficulty in preparing since each unit made the stage their very own! Thunderous applause met Jaeyun, Minho, & Yoonsung for their R&B style cover. Seungheon & Yungyu were met with surprise and excitement as the familiar sound of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘ Not Like Us ’ burst through the speakers but the lyrics were that of the Maknae/Rap Duo’s own story. And last but not least, Haemin, Myungho, & Kyungmin take the stage barefoot and in all black as they cover BTS’s ‘ Black Swan .’ When asked what made them fall in love with 8TURN , fans had answers ranging from “I found you because of an iHeart Radio interview” to “It feels like watching my best friends perform and pursue their dreams.” The members were touched by learning about each way fans found them, including ROAD TO KINGDOM 2, which they effortlessly used as a transition to their next stage: a RTK medley. Keeping on theme of a seamless transition, the members later bring up how this first world tour is “unfamiliar and exciting” like back in their debut days, leading them to perform ‘ WE ’ and ‘ TIC TAC ’ from their first mini album ‘8TURNRISE.’ In every stage, it is notable and impressive how synchronized they are, not just in choreography but in true joy expressed in every note they sing and smile they share with one another. Sharing the sweetness with the crowd, members joined the crowd to pass out candy before closing the night.    K Fuse would like to thank the team at MMT, MNH, and the members of 8TURN for this unbelievably surreal opportunity!
