  • "Exploring the Fusion of Genres: Juju B. Goode's Debut Album 'Smile! You're On Camera'"

Seoul-born singer, songwriter, and producer currently based in New York City, Juju B. Goode, has released " Mr. Lee ," today. A single fully in Korean off his highly anticipated debut album, "Smile! You're On Camera," which presents a fresh take on K-Pop, drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of genres like disco, rock, electronic, hip-hop, and more. After being featured on various noteworthy artists' tracks and singing the official soundtrack for Netflix Original series “XO, Kitty”, Juju B. Goode is now venturing beyond his established sound. Emerging as a promising new artist, Juju B. Goode started his musical journey as a bedroom artist, captivating listeners with his debut EP, Future Boy (2020). This lo-fi K-R&B nostalgic exploration has resonated with audiences worldwide, earning millions of streams and gaining recognition through various Spotify editorials. Building on this success, Juju B. Goode continued to release a second EP, Garden (2021), and collaborate with notable artists, incorporating his eclectic range of influences into a captivating tapestry of melodies, rhythms, and introspective lyrics. After being featured on various noteworthy artists' tracks and singing the official soundtrack for Netflix Original series “XO, Kitty”, Juju B. Goode is now venturing beyond his established sound. The highly anticipated debut studio album, set to be released later this summer, artfully infuses his work with diverse musical genres, drawing inspiration from rock, disco, electronic, and hip-hop, all while allowing his Korean roots to shine through. With his boundless creativity and dedication to his craft, Juju B. Goode is poised to leave an indelible mark on the industry, inspiring and cultivating his fandom around the globe. T he name "Mr. Lee" serves as a homophone, symbolizing the enigmatic nature of understanding oneself or others, blurring the lines between an individual and a collective reflection. The song's journey began with a demo crafted during a trip to Korea, later refined in Brooklyn, and finally, it received a touch of pop brilliance in California, where Juju worked alongside Pablo and producer Sake by the Water. The result was a more polished and infectious sound, a departure from Juju B. Goode's previous lo-fi bedroom pop style. "Mr. Lee" takes listeners on a musical-like adventure, commencing with a captivating, orchestral, grand synth intro, and concluding with an infectious UKG breakdown and sing-together outro, encapsulating the rush and mystery of life in a bustling city. As the song began resonating with his friends, Juju B. Goode discovered that "Mr. Lee" was, in a sense, a letter to himself, a reflection of his life before taking the leap to pursue music full-time. Having left his marketing job and followed his lifelong dream of becoming a musician right before the pandemic struck, Juju B. Goode's personal journey intertwined beautifully with the song's profound lyrics. Stay up to date with Juju B. Good on Social Media at: SPOTIFY  | INSTAGRAM  | YOUTUBE  | WEBSITE

  • Aespa LIVE TOUR 2023 SYNK: HYPER LINE

Aespa is a K-POP girl group under SM Entertainment, consisting of four members, Karina, Winter, Giselle, and Ningning. Known for their “metaverse” concept and futuristic visuals, the group debuted on November 17, 2020 with their single, “Black Mamba.” Aespa’s latest mini album “MY WORLD,” consists of 6 songs with their title track, “Spicy.” After just three years of debuting, Aespa is taking on a world tour in 14 cities with one of them being at the Fox Theatre, in the heart of downtown Atlanta, Georgia on August 25th.  Aespa’s Atlanta Concert Review  This will be based on my personal experience at their Atlanta concert. Fortunately, I’ve been able to attend and experience multiple concerts which a majority of them being K-POP groups. I will giving my person review of the show from the visuals, the music, the performance, the production, the atmosphere, the crowd, and the overall experience.  Parking  One of the more difficult things about concerts in Atlanta is the parking, but luckily, I was able to find parking at the Fox’s Orange Parking Lot for $25. There were other parking lots that I did pass by that costed $30, but I would recommended to use the MARTA, rideshare, or carpool for those coming from out of states.  Pre-Show The doors opened around 7pm and show was stated to start at 8pm. I arrived around 7:30pm, so I was able to go through security and ticket quite smoothly. The staff at the venue were friendly and helpful with helping people find their seats. There were merchandise booths with items including tour shirts, pin set, key chain, hair clip set, baseball cap, and their lightstick. Recently, a lot of the tour merchandise I’ve been seeing at K-pop concerts have been lackluster with not much pertaining to the concept and themes of the tours. Personally, I feel like companies know fans would be willing to purchase the items regardless if the design is worth it. The one design I do enjoy is the t-shirt that had a sticker-like collage on the back and small outline design in the front.  Visuals  The show was originally suppose to start at 8pm, but it started around 8:10pm. There was VCR visuals that started playing that displayed their metaverse concept. However, the 3D models of their avatars as well as the green-screen of alternate universe wasn’t the highest of quality. I noticed the highlight of green on the members for the green screen, and the animation of the dancing of the avatar was very stiff. Honestly, I was expecting a more polished visuals because I SM made a web series about the SM Culture Universe. There are concerts where the VCR concept videos being displayed during intermissions usually develops a story that keeps the audience engaged. However, I was slightly confused when the the plotlines were switching between their metaverse concept to girl crush then back to metaverse.  On the other hand, the stage outfits were amazing on all the members. Their starting outfits were a matching and bright sparkling outfits captivated the audience. Aespa would change during the intermission for their different stages which developed into individualized outfits for their solo stages leading up to their more group-based ones. On a side note, all the girls of Aespa were beautiful and stunning on the stage. Performance and Productions The girls put on their best performance and amazing choreography for their show. One thing I did notice was the instrumental music would overpower the vocals of the members. Their vocals were as if they ate CDs, but I wouldn’t be surprised since SM Entertainment is known for their vocals. The one feature that stuck with for me from the show was when Winter whipped out an electric guitar for their “Girls” performance. It was really cool to see the concert setting being used to display the range of talents that each member has to offer. It would be interesting to see their songs being played with a rock band or a live band as I’ve seen been used at other concerts. Another cool feature was having Aespa’s avatar versions doing the dance with them on the large screens. The Music Aespa’s setlist was a great balance between their title tracks as well as B-side tracks from their discography. As mention before, each member was able to display their solo stages between their sets ranging from dancing to vocals. It was cool to see them perform “Hold on Tight,” the song with the Tetris backtrack. There were moments where the momentum slowed down with their slower tracks, but picked backed up when it ended with “Next Level” and “Black Mamba.” The Atmosphere and Crowd The crowd and energy throughout the concert was very energetic especially when Aespa’s more upbeat songs were being performed. The fans were constantly screaming and cheering the moment the girls came on stage. The fans were singing their hearts out and waving the lightsticks in the air will always be a magical moment whenever I go to Kpop concerts. As much as it was difficult at times to see the stage performance of the girls due fans also recording moments, the energy was consistent throughout the concert. In addition, it’s not a Kpop concert in the United States, if the fans don’t start barking. I also enjoy all the fans getting dressed up for the show which just adds more to the concert experience.  Overall Experience The concert ended around 10:30pm the concluded with the encore stage with all the members in their tour merch. I loved seeing how much they interacted with their fans during the encore stage as they accepted gifts and recorded on their phones. We were able to see all the sides to each of the members throughout their performance. Given that it was their first world tour, they handled it like professionals and put on a show for the audience to enjoy and watch. I applaud that more and more idols try to break the language barrier even though not all the members are fluent in English. Hopefully, in the future, the members become more comfortable to speak to their fans in English without needing to read off a script. Personally, I find it okay for the idols to speak in their most comfortable language and it be translated. It feels more genuine and relaxed when the members get to express their feelings naturally. I enjoy their performance and spectacular vocals on stage, and their stage presence is captivating for each member. I am excited to see where Aespa goes in terms of music and their performances, and I would highly recommend seeing them if they are in your city. Written By: Leala H

  • Omega X World Tour [Connect: Don't Give Up] in Louisville

On October 9, 2022, The 11-members of the "second chance" group, Omega X, performed at Old Forester's Paristown Hall in Louisville, KY. Despite the concerns about the recent tour manager changes, as well as same-day changes, FOR X still showed up to show support and love for the group consisting of Jaehan, Hwichan, Sebin, Hangyeom, Taedong, Xen, Jehyun, Kevin, Junghoon, Hyuk, and Yechan.. The chilling weather (32 degrees), the night before did not stop FOR X from respectfully camping out overnight. Some FOR X were so excited that they began camping out as early as 9:00 am the morning before show day! The best part of any K-Pop concert started as more fans began arriving, and lineup time grew closer... The fits and the fan projects (freebies)! FOR X began passing out PCs, key chains, albums, a flag signing project, and even hearts to hold up during "BINARY STAR.'' Some FOR X came ready to show off their moves, as they participated in random dance plays, or practiced their favorite Omega X choreography. The night was filled with high energy from both FOR X and OMEGA X. The 11-members spent the night showing why they were given a second chance to share their talents with the world by showcasing their powerful vocals, hard-hitting raps, and skilled dance moves. Omega X's repertoire for the night began with the well-known intro of "VAMOS", followed by "OMEGA X." Fans' cheers could be heard more vividly as Omega X took the time to introduce themselves properly as a group and individuals. Two more high-energy songs, "What's Going On?" and "BAILA CON X", shortly followed to hype up the fans until a short intermission for outfit changes. As the VCR played, you could hear fans talking about what was to come next, because we all know Twitter is Spoiler Central. As Omega X came out, they continued to keep the crowd immersed with fan-favorite songs "LOVE ME LIKE" and "TAKE 'EM ALL". Following this, they took a short moment to surprise FOR X with a trivia where the winner would receive the privilege of joining Omega X on stage to be serenaded. This break helped transition into the next song, "Dry Flower," which gave a more soft-hearted vibe that seemed to describe Omega X perfectly... a group who suffers from the surrounding elements, but will one day bloom again. Although we were unable to stay for the remainder of the show, we are confident that FOR X continued to cheer on, and shower the members with love as they finished out their show with "ICETAG", the light-hearted "PLAY DUMB", the romantic sound of "ALL ABOUT U", "LIAR", "VENUS", "YOUNGER" and "FOR BABY" before exchanging short, encouraging greetings and ending the night by taking selfies with the members of OMEGA X

  • [EXCLUSIVE Interveiw] Get To Know Emerging Independent Korean R&B Artsit, Jae Kim

Welcome back #SoundLovers🎶! Today, we want to introduce you to an emerging indie artist that has been releasing music since late 2020. Emerging Indie K-R&B Artist, JAE KIM (born 2023.10.26), first made his appearance on TikTok in April 2020 with his cover dance of MCND's single, "Spring." In October 2020 -- six months following his first appearance on TikTok -- Jae released his first single, "Love Kills." Since the release of his first single, Jae has gone on to release five additional singles-- along with a collaborative single title, "Secret," with rising artists Nomichit and Jessie Cabrera. His latest single, "IDK" comes only three short months after Jae opened for Shaun's "ON THE ROAD' Tour in Toronto. We had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Jae, and here's what he had to say about his start in music, his time on TikTok, his experience as an emerging artist during the Pandemic while attending college * yikes -- talk about a full schedule *-- and his latest release "IDK." K Fuse: We are beyond grateful for this opportunity. We want to first and foremost thank you for taking time to talk with us here at K FUSE! For our #SoundLovers, would you give a little introduction about yourself? Jae Kim: Hello readers of K FUSE! I'm Jae -- an independent Korean R&B artist currently living in Toronto. thank you for taking the time to read my interview. K Fuse: Was there an experience or someone in your life that influenced you to start pursuing music? Tell us about that. Jae Kim: Ever since I was young, I always had a strong interest in music. I stated with instruments, but later got an interest in singing after listening to IU on TV for the first time. Although I'm not quite sure if she's what influenced me to start music, but I think she's one of my biggest role models as of today. K Fuse: On October 10, 2020, you released your first single, "Love Kills," and in July of 2021, you took a different approach with "Imagine.". How would you explain the differing sounds of the two songs? What sparked the change in sound? Jae Kim: I think as an artist, I want to show my versatility through my music. I never want to be restricted to one sound, and because of that I think that with each of my songs I try to change the style a little bit to keep my listeners always questioning what type of song I'll release next. Also, I think as I release songs that have different sounds, I become more conscious of the type of music I like to make, as well as what type of music suits me! I think it's all a work in progress and I enjoy the process. K Fuse: As an emerging artist who wrote songs during a pandemic, and even during times of lock down, do you think that gave you time to explore new sounds? Do you think it had an effect on your creative process? Jae Kim: I'm actually a really big home-body, so if I'm being completely honest the pandemic didn't really feel that much different to me than my day to day. However, if I were to say one thing about the pandemic, I think it definitely gave me more time (overall) to work on music, which I think might have helped lead me to where I am today. K Fuse: On top of being an emerging artist during a pandemic, you were also attending college (congratulations on graduation)! What was your biggest challenge while pursuing both an education and music career? What has been the most rewarding part of your journey? Jae Kim: I think biggest challenge in terms of balancing the two is time! I was always struggling in terms of wanting to devote more time to my music (because I wanted to release things faster for my listeners) while also balancing my grades. I'd say the most rewarding part of m journey his that I've learned a lot of design skills that have really helped me in terms of my music career! K Fuse: Speaking of college, what made you decide to pursue graphic design? Jae Kim: I was always really interested in the arts from a young age, but I also am a very logical person - because of that I thought that graphic design would be a great middle ground of creativity and logic (I think graphic design involves a lot of problem solving). K Fuse: Did you ever consider a different major? If so, what was it? Jae Kim: I actually originally intended on becoming a pharmacist and was studying for it, but I realized pretty quickly that I really didn't like that industry (particularly math), so I ended up changing my majors. K Fuse: Are there any artists with whom you would love to collaborate with? f so, who? Jae Kim: I think I would love to collaborate with DEAN or Baekhyun one day! K Fuse: Let's talk about your new single "IDK," which released on July 14. How would you describe "IDK?" Jae Kim: "IDK" is an upbeat summer song that uses a lot of synths, pianos, and strings to create a very "dream-like" atmosphere. It has a very upbeat melody but has sadder lyrics so I hope listeners will enjoy that contrast! K Fuse: Is there a meaning behind the name? Jae Kim: The name "IDK" is just reflective of the feeling expressed by the singer - they're unsure about why they're falling out of love with their partner, and that frustration is expressed through "IDK." K Fuse: What would you say is the highlight point of "IDK?" Jae Kim: I think the highlight point of "IDK" is the catchy hook where I sing "I don't know, I don't know, I don't know!" I hope it sticks to the listeners minds. K Fuse: What would you say tends to be your typical song-writing process? Jae Kim: When it comes to song-writing, I usually think of a melody first, and as I write my melody I think of lyrics and a concept that might suit the melody, as well as the instrumental. K Fuse: How would you describe your overall sound as an artist to someone who has never listened to your music before? Jae Kim: I think I would describe my sound as bittersweet - I think a lot of my music isn't super sad, but also isn't super happy. I think even in my ore upbeat songs, there's an elemental of sadness to them that makes my music unique. K Fuse: What message / feelings do you want listeners to take away from your music? Jae Kim: I want listeners to feel like they're heard when I write my music. I try my best to write about experiences that a lot of people will relate to, because I know that at the end of the day, for a lot of people music is about healing and relieving stress. K Fuse: Are there any other music styles that you wish to explore in your future releases? Jae Kim: I've been very into "driving music" recently, and I think that i lot of future releases will be reflecting that. I'd also like to delve into more R&B in the future if I have a chance! K Fuse: Can we talk TikTok for a moment? You started TikTok with dance cover videos in April of 2020. Do you have any professional training in dance, or is it all self-taught? Jae Kim: I've taken a few classes here and there, but for the most part my dancing is all self-taught. K Fuse: What motivated you to start doing dance covers? Jae Kim: I think from a young age I always just enjoyed dancing and following along to K-pop singers, and I think that’s really what motivated me to post dance covers. I just enjoyed dancing and I think the community around K-pop dance covers is very positive as a whole and I wanted to participate in that. K Fuse: You also did a duet video with @katoproducer ( 2020.12.13 - https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8deQALP ) where you showcased a rather solid rap flow.  Have you considered exploring rapping more for future releases? Jae Kim: I’ve never said this online, but I actually had a song that I ended up scrapping because I had a rap in it, and I didn’t like it. I think I’m not that confident enough in my rapping skills to release a full song in it, but the possibility is definitely not off the table! K Fuse: On April 4, you announced on IG that you were opening for Shaun’s North America Tour.  What was your initial reaction when you found out you were opening for Shaun? Jae Kim: I was so honored! Shaun is an artist who I listen to a lot in my own time as well, and to have my first live performance be at the concert of an artist who I really respect was something that I felt I was really lucky to experience. K Fuse: What did you do to prepare for this performance? Jae Kim: The majority of my time was just spent practicing my singing live. I think one thing that people don’t think about is that live performances is very different from recording in a studio – there’s no breaks, it’s tiring, and you have to do everything in one try! Because of that pressure, I really practiced a lot to make sure that I could give the best performance I could. K Fuse: Did you experience any fear / nervousness before taking the stage?  If so, at what moment did that feeling disappear? Jae Kim: Surprisingly I didn’t feel that nervous before the stage – I think everything was just so overwhelming and time was passing so fast that I didn’t really have time to feel nervous. But! Right after I got off stage, my entire body felt like it got hit by a truck, I was sore everywhere, and eventually I had to lie down backstage for about an hour. I think my body was probably nervous, but was holding it in because I had to perform. After I finished it probably felt that it was “safe” enough to let all that go. K Fuse: Were there any memorable moments from this performance? Jae Kim: The most memorable part of the performance was actually seeing people and interacting with the crowd. I remember in one of my songs “in june,” there’s a section in the chorus that I asked the crowd to sing along with me, and I was so shocked that they actually listened. The crowd was super supportive and cheered really loudly, and I don’t think that I’ll ever forget that feeling. K Fuse: What are your goals for the future? Jae Kim: My biggest goals for the future is bettering myself as an artist – I want to discover and solidify my sound more, write better music, and of course, grow an audience who loves my sound. Hopefully the latter half of 2023 and next year in 2024 I’ll be able to achieve that! K Fuse: What is the best advice you’ve been given? Jae Kim: The best advice that I’ve been given is always take one step at a time. Especially in this industry, I think a lot of others (myself included) often get discouraged when we see other people who are more well-known and successful, and we feel that sense of “can I really do this?” But I think as time has gone on, I realized it’s really important to set smaller goals for yourself (as well as a big goal of course) because it really helps you realize that all the work you do is for that one big goal you have. K Fuse: Do you have a message you want to leave for your fans? Jae Kim: I don’t think I say this enough, but I sincerely appreciate each and every one of my listeners and followers. I’m blessed enough to say that I have people who really enjoy my music, and I’m very grateful that I’m able to do what I do. I hope you’ll keep an eye out for the music I put out in the future, and I appreciate your support. And of course, thank you to K FUSE for having me today! #SoundLovers🎶, stay up to date with Jae on INSTAGRAM | THREADS | TIKTOK | TWITTER | YOUTUBE And be sure let us know what you think about Jae's latest release "IDK."
